Spirit City: Lo-Fi Sessions Review
Wednesday, March 19, 2025
Spirit City: Lo-Fi Sessions (we make money from sales at this link) is a game that I’ve been using on the Crossed Wires Live streams. The game isn’t what you would normally classify as a game. It’s a customizable virtual background of your own house in Spirit City.
As you progress you find spirits in different settings such as while sitting by the fireplace, while having your character meditating at a baywindow and more. These characters can be customized further with skins that you unlock. Each day that you are playing you accrue points that can be spent to unlock things like clothing and decorations for your home.
The game includes a journal, task list, pomodoro timer and some playlists of lofi music provided by Homework Radio. While not an extensive list of “gameplay mechanics”, the tools provide what you need for a living background that helps productivity.
The game is under active development. There is some paid DLC coming on March 26th that will allow you to have your own Cozy Kitchen. The devs have said their model is to keep providing free updates, while routinely putting in paid DLC to help development costs of the game.
I would definitely say that I give this game a 5/5. It has been a background for my coworking streams and sometimes even when not doing anything, it is nice to have on to help keep me calm. I am very much looking forward to more updates coming both free and paid. The most recent update added decorations for the Chinese New Year.
