NVIDIA GeForce NOW: Cloud Gaming Might Now Be a Reality

At Crossed Wires we use Macs as our daily drivers, but Macs just aren’t built for gaming in my opinion. No matter how much Apple tries to court game developers, they just won’t be able to get the same traction as Windows has for games. This does pose an issue for James and I as we are gamers and we broadcast our gaming on Twitch and YouTube. Back in 2022 we invested in Steam Decks to be able to game.

Express Transit on U.K. Buses and the London Underground

One of the best features of the Apple Watch and iPhone is a feature called Express Transit. This is a feature where you add a card to Apple Wallet and then set that card as your Express Transit card. Once this is set all you have to do is hold your phone or watch to a compatible payment terminal and you are all set. Many U.K. buses and the London Underground are equipped with terminals that support this.

AbleSign - How We Solved a Client's Dilemma

For one of our clients they had a need for digital signage. We looked into a variety of options of varying complexity and pricing. After spinning our wheels for a few hours we finally found a solution in AbleSign. We began using the software and within seconds had solved our clients issue. Spirit City: Lo-Fi Sessions Review

Spirit City: Lo-Fi Sessions (we make money from sales at this link) is a game that I’ve been using on the Crossed Wires Live streams. The game isn’t what you would normally classify as a game. It’s a customizable virtual background of your own house in Spirit City. Statement On Our Social Media Presence

We try to be very careful about the social networks and platforms we use. We are on Twitch and YouTube for video content, despite having major concerns, notably around privacy and the content they allow on their platforms, about the platforms themselves and their respective parent companies. However, we feel we can be a positive force on these platforms, and whilst by no means the sole factor, a lot of our revenue comes from Twitch, with a hope that this will soon include YouTube.

Statement on Our Support of LGBTQIA+

With the re-election of Trump by a sizeable proportion of the United States, we feel it’s more important than ever for us to speak up about our support of LGBTQIA+ rights. It goes without saying that Crossed Wires is fully in support of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially since James and Jae are both members; we’re both bisexual in a loving queer relationship (with each other!), and Jae is a trans woman.

Website Redesign

We are in the midst of a website redesign, partly because of the feud between Matt Mullenweg and WP Engine and partly because WordPress has just become way too bulky. We are moving the podcast website to be hosted via our provider Castos. The blog we are going to be hosting on Micro.blog as we’ve really come to appreciate this service and how easy it is to use and to maintain a blog.
